The same design principles apply to website design as any other design process. As the complexity of a site increases, the more need there is to ensure a correct design methodology is followed. Teaching web-design incorporates design-process and project management skills alongside technical skills.
The aesthetics of the site are devloped along with the other elements. For this project there were several discreet design processes; the page layout and typography were designed using the CSS presentation language for web pages. In this case "The Medium is the Message" as the message is instruction on how to use CSS.
The other design element is the design of the graphics used in the site. These were all created in Photoshop and optimised for web delivery. The designs themselves were made by layering graphic elements, most of which were simple geometric shapes, plus a couple of open-copyright web graphics. The final versions evolved as more elements were added, and transformed using Photoshop's algorithms.
